Today I return to interviewing lawyers, or, to be more accurate, a prospective lawyer … Lawyer-2-be. The interview is done over the telephone and we have deliberately distorted her voice to preserve anonymity.

Lawyer-2-be describes herself as a ‘mature’ student – defined as over 25. I talk with her about the difficulties faced by mature students, her views on the BVC, diversity at the Bar and her plans for practice.

Here is Podcast 9: Lawyer-2-be on the BVC and chocolate

Easter is coming…

I have not lost the plot yet – but I do like the Hollywood sign. If you want one click here

So the ‘Fool’s day’ has come and gone and Professeur Flora Poli is back in the cupboard for another year. Easter is here. I am not going away. I have work to do and, of course, a bit of blogging. I am planning to throw some Easter eggs into my garden upon my return from one of my usual evening venues and see if I have any idea where they are on Sunday morning.

I have cracked the issue of doing telephone podcasts. I have purchased some excellent software which works on a Mac, records the two-way telephone call (I call from Skype to a land line or mobile), splits the tracks and imports beautifully into GarageBand 3, the sofware I use on my Mac for podcasts. Legal Scribbles, Lawyer-2-Be and Geeklawyer are forthcoming attractions.

Geeklawyer: In memoriam

It would appear that Geeklawyer has to hand the reins of office to Ruthie… he has been rumbled. A changing of the Guard….

I was not asked … but I felt the need to write a few words… with a little help from the bard….

Alas… poor Geeklawyer…. the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune….. we compared him to a summer’s day… but…it must follow, as the night the day, thou canst not then be false to any man.

I like his blog and willingly do waste my time on it. Can one desire too much of a good thing?

Geeklawyer… you and I are past our dancing days but you have had to give the devil his due… We have heard the chimes at midnight.

I fear ‘they’ may not have approved of the sentiment… “The first thing we do, let’s kill all the lawyers”

But…like others… you have recognised… Men at some time are masters of their fates: The fault, dear Geeklawyer, is not in our stars, but in ourselves, that we are underlings

All the world ’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players. They have their exits and their entrances; And one man in his time plays many parts… The game is up. There’s daggers in men’s smiles… but, as you know… Fair is foul, and foul is fair.

Some rise by sin, and some by virtue fall… This is the short and the long of it. So wise so young, they say, do never live long.. That it should come to this!

Yond Geeklawyer has a lean and hungry look; He thinks too much: such men are dangerous. This was the noblest blogger of them all.

We will remember you…

PS…. do you want a lift across the Styx? Only a silver coin…. and you get to keep it…

The French call it “April Fish Day”…. Quite. Cry God…for Harry at Boujis… St George and England.
