High-flying married lawyer joins sleazy £40-a-head swingers’ party
Scotland’s Daily Record reports: “ONE of Scotland’s top criminal lawyers was caught in a mansion’s sex dungeon during a Sunday Mail probe into sordid swingers’ parties. The married lawman, who often appears in the High Court, took part in a £40-a-head bash where strangers, couples and transvestites had tawdry sex…..”
The report continued to provide sufficient salacious detail, without revealing the identity of the ‘lawman’ – because of privacy laws – to satisfy readers; but what I particularly enjoyed was this piece….“An eyewitness said: “It was depraved – only a handful of women were in the house and it was full of blokes.”
An eye witness…? Good grief…whatever next. Hat Tip to fellow tweeter @loveandgarbage for drawing my attention to this important legal development in social meedja.
Study to examine oversupply of LPC graduates
The Law Society Gazette has the story: Following on from recent coverage on the over supply of Bar students…. the SRA is coming under pressure from The Legal Services Board to look into the issue. There may be an issue of Competition Law? I understand that competition law issues have been raised before in aptitude tests and other ideas for restricting entry.

“oversupply of LPC graduates”
Fascinating.
People capable of being able to contribute to a profession being turned away because the overall ‘pricing/charging’ capacity of the profession will be diminished. The mechanism used to hamstring the would-be lawyers’ opportunities being “education and training” (from the Law Society Gazette article), which is mirrored in our society as a whole.
Tragic.
The tragedy lies in the squandered talent both for the individual and for society.
“I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed” by ignorance, greed and petty bigotry. Not only in law but in other professions, so that the lucky few could enjoy over inflated incomes while others are cast aside.
Pathetic.
capitalism – screwing the many for the benefit of the few since 1066.
that dungeon does sound rubbish – should have invited more lasses. you’d have thought there’d be loads of gorgeous young women anxious to get it on with judges and the like. maybe they need to advertise it on the pupillage portal.
“capitalism – screwing the many for the benefit of the few since 1066.”
I had that word in mind when I typed the note but made a conscious effort of not using it. I’m not a Marxist (not clever enough) but the problem of over production, when it comes to the skills of people; rather than widgets etc, and the crappy solutions to this over production, seem to add a particular cruelty to the necessary (for the system) waste.
As to 1066 … I wonder what the world would be like if we got equity for rent?
I know that the first politician to bring this to the people was Mrs T, of whom it is fashionable to hate. But she only brought ‘equity for rent’ justice to council tenants; not all of us.
Of course, no other politician has come close since.
I could have been a Marxist but I didn’t have the German – (as in the Peter Cook ‘I could have been a judge but i didn’t have the Latin’)
What are the electoral prospects for the £40-a-head swingers party?
Good, I suspect!
and 1066 was an entirely arbitrary number but i don’t like the truth to get in the way of a soundbite. that’s newmarxism for ya!
“…where strangers, couples and transvestites had tawdry sex…..”
Ah, it’s not often you see the word ‘tawdry’ used with such disapproval, is it?
st audrey will be turning uncorrupted in her grave.
She was from Ely yenno… (St Audrey)
