Today I interviewed Toby Davey, Barrister at 4-5 Gray’s Inn Square, Immigration judge, wine expert and firework maestro – about practice at the Bar, his work as an Immigration Judge and his extra-curricular interests.
Toby gave an interesting insight into the realities faced by intending barristers and , after considering what he most enjoyed about practice as a barrister and judge, talked about his fascination with fireworks. Unfortunately, I was not able to buy him a glass of Chateau Lafitte 1965 at a couple of grand a bottle.
Another excellent podcast & very interesting guest. I fear your desire to interview me would lead to a flat spot in the podcast quality so far.
I liked Toby’s views on pupillage & tenancy and agreed: very much worth listening to if one is a pupil or BVC student.
Geeklawyer…thank you for taking the time to comment. Toby is extremely interesting. Known him for a long time. We had a couple of glasses of wine after and, over lunch with him, I was able to show him the whole process: doing the podcast in the small studio we have, downloading his pic from 4-5 Gray’s Inn Sq website, finalise the edit with Aga (TV/radio editor et al, who works with me), upload the mp3 and write the blog post…. then we had another glass.
I am very much looking forward to interviewing you – I am confident that the podcast will be interesting and, quite possibly, surreal?
[…] has asked me to pimp his new podcast. Geeklawyer is happy to do so: the interviews are always very good indeed and the podcasts are […]
